Hespereus Ski Swap!!  November 7th at the Fair Grounds!  We continue to need volunteers to help.  We have just found out that we are the ONLY volunteers!  The more volunteers we have the more money we get!  We need folks Friday evening to set up, Saturday day to help, and Saturday evening to take down. If you have a few hours and would like to volunteer, please email me at legxcs@mydurango.net.  Thanks! I will get right back to you…..We will also have a membership table with City Market Sign up and groomer sign up at the membership table.

Masters Ski Group

August 26, 2009

VALLECITO NORDIC SKI CLUB IS FORMING A NORDIC MASTERS SKI GROUP! when: FIRST WEDNESDAY IN SEPTEMBER….9-2-09 AT 5:30 P.M. MEETING AT THE PAVILLION AT THE RECREATION CENTER!

The purose of this group is to provide a fun outlet to prepare for the season with strength, endurance and technique work. A further goal is to create a wider interest and knowledge base of the sport of Nordic skiing. This is intended for those who want to improve to those that want to race.

We will meet once a week during the fall and winter. Currently, we think Wednesdays are the best with a few Saturdays as an option. During the fall we will work on Nordic specific workouts, including roller skiing. We may also have some more general fitness workouts such as mountain bike rides. We would like to hear from people who are interested to see what people might be looking for so we can customize our program.

Look forward to seeing you Wednesday 9-2-09 at the pavillion at the Rec. Center!!

END OF SEASON!!!

March 12, 2009

A giant thank you to all who skied and enjoyed Vallecito this year!  Also a extra special thank you to ALL who donated membership, money, time and energy to make our area so special.

The grooming equipment will be taken to “storage’ this weekend.  Howeve please note that skiing on the crust on the beach remains good.  Also the groomed trails are not bad…just a few thin areas and holes so continue to enjoy as long as you wish.

We will be having a general “end of the year” meeting at the Recreation Center on 3-25-09 at 5:30 p.m. in the EOlus Room.  I hope to see EVERYONE who loves skiing at this area there to help us close the season and set goals for next season!

Wed Night

February 18, 2009

I did a light grooming on Wed night (2 laps). It was beginning to get a little icy and windblown in sections on the lake. We were hoping for more snow but it didn’t come. It should be good skating on Thurs AM. The classic skiing is best on the road due to windblown tracks along the lake. We’ll be grooming on Fri and this weekend. –Rob

Those who ventured to Vallecito today were treated to great skating and classic skiing. Thanks Ron, Matt and Jake for grooming this weekend. I groomed tonight (Sun night) so holiday skiers will have fresh corduroy and more classic tracks. Enjoy. –Rob
