TRAIL REPORT Saturday 1-30-10

January 30, 2010

Skied for about three hours this afternoon on beautifully groomed trails…classic tracks and skate area! The groomers have been working VERY hard Friday night and today Saturday! Please support them with your donations! There is more grooming scheduled for tomorrow Sunday so come out and enjoy. Skiing is fantastic!

Also please do not forget to scoop your dogs poop off the trails and from the parking lot! Even though we have had wonderful snow, and a lot, over the passed week, the “brown klister wax” left by dogs continues to need to be cleaned off the trails and from the parking lot!

Thank you! Diane

GROOMING REPORT 1-28-10

January 28, 2010

MORE SNOW! The road and dam were plowed by five o’clock today, Thursday! Someone even skated on the road as the conditions there were GREAT! We have had another 10-12 inches of the beautiful white stuff…wet and heavy….but not groomed as of five o’clock this evening, Thursday. We hope to have groomers out sometime Friday and definitely Saturday. Stay tuned and I will continue to post conditions.

Come out and ski in the “fluff”! Is a beautiful time to be out! Warm and fluffy!

SKIABLE! GREAT!

2010 Avalanche on Vallecito Nordic Trails

Heavy Snow Triggers Avalanche on Vallecito Trails

Rob put in another six hours yesterday, Monday and Buck a few hours more trying to set more classic tracks! Hopefully we will get a FEW inches in the next few days so we can get in more and better classic tracks. The present 5K of classic tracks are great!

The skate areas are firm, a little bumpy and still settling in places. Each night has been cold, single digets so that will help firm all. If my dog, Rubi did not have to check out all the rabbit tracks along the edge, she would not post hole!

The avalanche area changes the FS road before Brad’s Cabin with a little rise. Everyone who has skied Vallecito for years has never seen a slide in this area! WOW!

So skiing is great, no, amazing especially considering all the snow! Thanks once again to our groomers. I can not say that enough!

Look forward to seeing you on the trails!

Monday Eve — Grooming Report

January 25, 2010

We did another 6 hrs of grooming today. Skating on the road and East Creek is excellent. North Beach is still a little rough and South Beach is a little rough in spots. There are 5k of classic tracks and Buck might be setting more classic tracks as we speak. It’s nice to have the place back in good shape.–Rob
