My favorite black and blue Bjorn Daehlie jacket disappeared from the sign down at Madden Corner this Saturday, Jan, 31st. If anyone has it by mistake, please call 946-2751. A bummer end to a great day of skiing.
Thanks,
Dom

Great Skiing This Weekend!
January 29, 2009Vallecito continues to be good. Some of the Beach sections became wind blown earlier in the week. Our grooming efforts in the early season paid off because the well packed surface never deteriorated during the warm weather. We’ll groom on Friday during the day and Sunday morning. It should great and best for skating vs. classic.–Rob

FANTASTIC
January 25, 2009WOW!! In spite of the warm temps and rain mixed with snow Vallecito is amazing! I skied classic this a.m. with the new fallen “stuff”. Conditions were fast and tracks a little messd up, but very doable! I was out again this afternoon about 3:30 p.m. to 5:00p.m., expecting mashed potatoes. To my suprise it was fast and only a little soft. These conditions are becasue our groomers are working hard AND mother nature is being kind to us! Get out there and ski! Diane

Weird but not bad
January 25, 2009Vallecito is fairing pretty well with this warm wet spell. As of noon Saturday, the well packed trail surface was holding up and was not breaking down into mush as you might expect. 1-2″ fell on this surface Sat AM and Ed groomed that in and skating was great. We are planning to groom again Sunday morning provided the snowmobile doesn’t overheat with the warm temps. There was black ice reported on the roads last night so be careful driving in the early morning. –Rob

Its Warm but Surprising Good Skiing
January 23, 2009The skiing at Vallecito (at this moment) is surprisingly good, given the warm temperatures. We’re grooming in the morning. Skating will be better than classic. On Sunday we’ll debut our new 8′ wide groomer. We keep adding new equipment, so please keep donating to support our hard work. –Rob

DEMO FESTIVAL DAY
January 18, 2009What a wonderful day! Sun shine, lots of folks, tons of demo equipment and those eleven children who did their event on skies around our 1k loop! The crowds were fantastic with over one hundred cars in the parking lot at one time, skiing and more skiing all day. Back Country Experience has put together a wonderful event exposing all of Durango to our beautiful trail system. I can not thank our volunteers enough for all their efforts. The “team” that arrived at 7:30a.m. with 8 degrre temps….some folks staying all day and others coming later in the day to keep this event running smoothly ALL day long. THANK YOU all so much. We would not have been this successful without all the help. Also a giant thank you to Zukes, all of our demo folks and to Back Country Experience.
With all this exposure Vallecito Nordic Club is growing. I look forward to all the wonderful support you give to Vallecito, our successful day and to the growth of this beautiful area. THANK YOU. Diane
