August 26, 2009

VALLECITO NORDIC SKI CLUB IS FORMING A NORDIC MASTERS SKI GROUP! when: FIRST WEDNESDAY IN SEPTEMBER….9-2-09 AT 5:30 P.M. MEETING AT THE PAVILLION AT THE RECREATION CENTER!

The purose of this group is to provide a fun outlet to prepare for the season with strength, endurance and technique work. A further goal is to create a wider interest and knowledge base of the sport of Nordic skiing. This is intended for those who want to improve to those that want to race.

We will meet once a week during the fall and winter. Currently, we think Wednesdays are the best with a few Saturdays as an option. During the fall we will work on Nordic specific workouts, including roller skiing. We may also have some more general fitness workouts such as mountain bike rides. We would like to hear from people who are interested to see what people might be looking for so we can customize our program.

Look forward to seeing you Wednesday 9-2-09 at the pavillion at the Rec. Center!!

  2. Is there a way to invite your members to our Day of infamy snow shoe race?

This race is an 8k race that winds through beautiful Babbish Gulch at Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs, CO. There is usually 10k of groomed track on Sunlight’s Cross Country system. The race course uses the best snow available. The track may even lead off onto a single track course. The course is regularly packed (machine or by foot) before the race day. If you have any questions feel free to contact the race director at the address or phone number listed below.

Registration for the race can be done locally before race day at Summit Canyon Mountaineering (8th and Grand in Glenwood Springs) and Independence Run and Hike for a pre-registration fee of $20. Please be sure to register before closing on December 11th as all registrations are picked up then. Day of race registration is $22 and will take place in the back of the Day Lodge at Sunlight Mountain Resort at 9 AM. Race begins at 10 AM. Please make all checks out to “Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race “. Registration includes t-shirt.
