SKIED TODAY!!

January 30, 2011

One of our groomers was out mid-day with excellent results on the skate course. Yes, there are a couple of areas that are icy. Just remember to time your arrival, giving the snow a chance to soften form the over night freezing temperatures.

Hope for snow the next three days! I have my fingers crossed!

Fridays Conditions

January 28, 2011

Skied this afternoon, and WOW! It was perfect. I think all the skiing and grooming has broken up the pine needles. The snow was firm with just enough softness on top to give one a bite with pushoff. The classic tracks remain glazed in most places but great klister wax conditions! If if softens up enough to re-set the classic track you can count on our groomers doing so.

GROOMING AND CONDITIONS!!!

January 24, 2011

Snow conditons have slowly changed due to higher temperatures and a dry January. Some areas soften in the afternon sun and then become crusty overnight. Attempting to break up the crust with the grooming implements is difficult and results in overheating the snowmobiles. So we will start grooming later in the morning most days to do a better job of grooming and be easier on the equipment. If you have a choice, early to mid afternoon is really, really good skating right now. We still have good snow coverage and will have consistent grooming every day except most Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We are unable to reset the classic tracks right now due to the hardness of the snow in the tracks. We will look for opportunities to reset the classic tracks if the snow softens more later this week.

DOG ATTACK!

January 24, 2011

PLEASE!!! Everyone take notice. There has been an aggressive dog attack on our ski trails at Vallecito. The individual attacked was injured.

We MUST control our dogs at ALL times. It is our responsibility as dog owners to either have our dogs under absolute voice control or leashed so they are not threatening to others or a menece to other skiers.

This must be taken VERY seriously as we need to SHOW that we are responsible citizens and pet owners.

If you have an aggressive dog, please keep your dog home or on leash and under control.

Thank you, Diane

SNOW!!! SNOW!!! SNOW!!!

January 20, 2011

Vallecito is holding up well…for skating. Even though there are pine needles falling on the trails the skating remains good! The classic tracks are glazed and icy so timing is important when wanting to classic….Or of course there is always klister wax!

Come on out and enjoy!

Don’t forget the wooden ski festival on February 6th. You do not need wooden skies…just dress in vintage and come have fun on what ever classic skies you have!!

Conditions!!

January 17, 2011

Groomers were out today, Monday for many hours going over the trails. It is pretty solid in the a.m. and begins to soften up by about noon or slightly earlier with soft snow by late in the day. Maybe Wednesday will bring us some new fresh white stuff and a little colder temperatures.

In the mean time, think SNOW! WHITE, COLD and BEAUTIFUL!

CONDITIONS! GREAT!!!

January 12, 2011

Skied yesterday late afternoon and today. Conditons remain EXCELLENT with two groomers fine tuning the conditons this evening. All trails remain hard with a covering of snow making the skiing OUTSTANDING!

There are a few pine needles on the trails so start thinking of doing your “snowdance” to cover them and give us new “powder”!

Look forward to seeing you on the trails!
