SUPPORT NORDIC GROOMING POSTERS

December 27, 2011

Our “Support Nordic Grooming” Posters, you know the one with the woman shaving her legs, were so popular this season that many were taken from their posted place. Because of their popularity we have decided to make a few available for a donation to Vallecito Nordic. If interested please send your donation to me, Diane Legner 133 Mtn Shadow Drive Bayfield 81122 and I will get one in the mail to you. Remember to send your mailing address or phone number so I make certain you get this valuable and soon to be “collectors” item!

GROOMING TUESDAY

December 27, 2011

Two groomers were out for six hours each today, Tuesday polishing the skate area and shoveling snow on to the thin areas as much as possible. With this warm spell the area seems to be holding up well but of course there are some thin areas, so please be very careful.

Do your snow dance, light cnadles, pray to the snow GODS, anything to bring us more snow! I guess we should feel lucky as some areas of the country are still BROWN!

Happy New Year to all! And enjoy skiing!

Christmas Day Skiing

December 25, 2011

Skiing continues to be great and lots of folks out today! Yea! The tracks are still good although a little thin iN a few places. If the warm weather continues we could see klister conditions in some areas and blue extra in others. that so depends on the sun and temperatures!

So happy skiing and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Friday Grooming Report

December 23, 2011

We recived 2 to 3 inches from the Wednesday Storm. All the trails, that can be, were packed with new classic for the holiday weekend. The north beach is still a littl rough with a few exposed rocks and dirt. East Creek is also still rough from the existing ruts at the end. All in all the skiing is really good. It will be fast tomorrow with the colder temps overnight. Groomers will be out tomorrow touching up the skating areas for your holiday fun.

Conditions!

December 22, 2011

Skied today about two p.m. on the new fluffy snow! Because of the grooming underneath it was wonderful! There are a few rocks on North Beach and they have been marked (green paint). Otherwise conditions good. Be aware of the areas where there is pink tape to keep you from going on certain trails. These trails are closed because we need more snow! The beach and road are excellent!

Diane and Happy Holidays !

Friday Grooming Report

December 16, 2011

Vallecito got about 6″ from the Tuesday storm. Everything that could be packed was packed on Wednesday.  Decent skating.  Some rocks and brush around so watch it.  East Creek is a little rough at the end because of deep ruts in the road that have not filled fully yet.  Classic is set along the road, South Beach and through the South Woods.  We will be out tomorrow to make nice for Sunday.

Get your stuff, go out and have some fun.  Nick

Friday 12-09-11 Grooming Report

December 9, 2011

Happy Holidays Everyone! Ron and I were out this morning unloading the rest of the equipment. Ron Groomed and I skied.  Lucky me :)   The road is good all the way out to the campground and the Beach is good to Brads cabin.  It is a little thin, however, the skiing is good and fast. I had rock skis but would have been fine on the good skis.   Only a few rocks here and there, that you can miss, except directly behind Brads cabin where it is a little rough.  Oh, yea take it slow down to the far campgound due to some rocks there.  No classic tracks yet because it is too thin, however, is fine for classic slogging. Great weekend to get your legs under you and take the pooch for a stroll.  Better hurry as the weather is calling for warmer temps and we may loose this nice start to a base. Should be good through the weekend.  Don’t forget to sign up for your season pass or make a donation at the bill board.  There are some forms there for you to sign up.   Nick
